On February 9th, 2019, New York Times Journalist was sent to Egypt, when his entry was denied by the authorities without explanation. Journalist, David D. Kirkpatrick is a London based international correspondent for the New York Times, and previously a Middle Eastern correspondent, which lead to his selection for this journey. David was happy to make it back though, according to The Wall Street Journal, "With at least 25 journalists behind bars, Egypt is the third-largest jailer of media workers in the world, trailing China and Turkey, according to the Committee to Protect Journalists, a leading advocacy group in New York". Although the part I found interesting was that the New York Times did not state why he was traveling to Egypt or if a visa had been issued.
