Front Page News - 9/11/01

On September 11th, 2001, terrorist group al-Qaeda attacked the United States by hijacking three airplanes. They flew two planes into the twin towers in the World Trade Center and one plane into the Pentagon. The people of America were devastated, they were angry, but most of all, they were afraid. Different front pages of different news papers showed this varied reaction form the people.
Anchorage Daily News focuses on the fear people are feeling after these attacks. They have a very large, colored photo of one of the twin towers exploding. The headline is just the word "TERROR" in very large text across the top of the page, in the center.
The Sun focuses on the loss people are feeling after these attacks. At the top of the page you can read the words "Prayers are whispered. Tears are shed." The headline is in large letters and reads "We Mourn", above a large, colored photo of three firefighters in the midst of the rubble, bringing down an American flag that takes up the majority of the front page.
The special edition of The Examiner features a one-worded title as well, simply the word "Bastards!" in big, bold, capital letters. This, along with a brightly colored photo of one of the twin towers blowing up. The headline and the photo are two of the only things on the front page of this newspaper, showing how important this story is. [3 images,  1 link, 4 quotes, 238 words]
