History and Journalism in " Band of Brothers"

History and Journalism in " Band of Brothers"

"Band of Brothers", a TV mini-series which followed the journey of American paratroopers through their siege against Nazi-occupied Europe during World War ll. This show not only captures real-life event but the stories of real soldiers that lived through the hell of war as a 'band of brothers'. Before every episode, there are interviews between the producers of the show and the veterans. The producers asked the veterans emotional questions that cause them to recall the battles they fought together which was displayed in the episode. This method of screenwriting paired with the emotional response from the veterans was an impeccable experience for the viewers who could get a clear understanding of what these men went through for the sake of the free world. Tom Hanks, the producer, wanted to give tribute to the "greatest generation" of men who fought for the freedom of generations to come. Critics acclaimed "Band of Brothers" to be "revolutionary for what was capable for television at the time" as they had a movie-like budget of $125 million, which at the time, was unheard of. Band of Brothers is still considered as one of the greatest World War 2 inspired films ever created and I recommend giving it a watch if you're interested in war history.
