Jussie Smollett, a popular actor in America has been arrested. On February 21, 2019 a dozen news stations covered this story including CNN Entertainment and NBC News. When viewing CNN Entertainment and NBC News I discovered the importance of visual rhetorical. Both news stations uploaded a video of a Chicago Police Department speaking of the incident involving Jussie Smollett, and both included a mug shot of the famous actor. The only difference came down to the title of the article. NBC News published the article with the headline “Jussie Smollett blasted by Chicago Police for exploiting city’s racial divide for personal gain” versus CNN Entertainment published title “Jussie Smollett paid $3,500 to stage his attack, hoping to promote his career, Chicago police allege”. When viewing the titles, the one that stuck out the most was CNN Entertainments. It was the one that really explained what happened with the actor. Two published articles that covered the same thing can have a better ability to reach readers through their headlines. When coming to a story, a title can really make a difference. [1 Image,
