March for Our Lives 2018- Newspaper



17 lives have been lost and 14 resulted severely wounded after a horrific and tragic event that occurred on February 14. A teen entered the campus armed opening fire with his automatic rifle at his former high school- Stoneman Douglas High School. About a month later, young people have come together as a community to protest the end of violence. Two images below demonstrate the differentiation of the impact on readers based on image and tone. The newspaper cover (left) has a bolding title that conveys an important message to halt the utilization of armed weapons. The tone emphasizes is sorrow believing that an event like this should never have to occur again. Protesters have gathered together to "demand action against gun violence, vividly displaying the strength of political movement led by survivors of the school massacre. . ." On the other hand, the Desert News, Thousand of Rally for Safer School sets off a tone by seeking a solution to make sure that the students are safer in a learning environment. While the Providence Sunday Journal promotes to end guns; the Desert News promote to pass a law to make it more impossible to access and buy guns. When reading the title, there is a sense of courage and bravery while the first newspaper mentioned emphasizes fear.
