Went to Harvard Kennedy School for masters in public policy degree. But who knew he wouldn't start as a journalist? He still had a long way because he worked for Immigrant services project and child protection. He even ended up being called “Latino food expert” for writing about food in Times out New York. Next, a book was written by Kugel named “The complete guide to Latino life in the five boroughs”. During the same time, Kugel taught journalism interviewing techniques, and wrote for the travel section in Times. Kugel relocated himself to Sao Paulo, Brazil to continue for the travel section of Times, and as a correspondent for international news. Finally in June of 2010 Kugel took over Frugal travel section in the New York Times where it started with a 13 week trip to New York.
