If you keep up with the news from your preferred media source , you more than likely have heard about the ongoing issue Venezuelans have been facing for the last couple of years. Individualism over there is definitely a big NO, as the people and journalists are controlled to keep whatever is going on in that country from getting out to the rest of the world. Not too long ago, an American journalist, Jorge Ramos was detained for questioning Maduro for the way he was running his country. Ramos is not the only journalist that has been detained, Cody Weddle was also arrested earlier last month by the Venezuelan government and on a report by ABC News, they stated that, "The number of journalists and press workers imprisoned this year rose to 36, officials with the Venezuelan press union said". This just goes to show how suppressed journalists over there are. On another article by the Washington Post, they said that, "The government has intensified suppression and intimidation of journalists in recent days by ordering newsrooms to avoid covering opposition rallies and speeches, closing down radio stations, raiding TV channel offices, and blocking websites". After reading this article it can be concluded that the Venezuelan government is using tactics in regards to rhetoric by only showcasing the 'good' side of them, and suppressing what they don't like and what is giving them bad press.
