America's opioid epidemic
Opioids have been a commonly known problem for Americans, for decades. From Heroin to Fentanyl, they're plaguing the nation. In a recent study "published Friday in the journal JAMA Network Open, found that the mortality rate from synthetic opioids in 28 states more than doubled every two years from 1999 to 2016". The need for these drugs have also skyrocketed. Fentanyl is up to 50 times more powerful than heroin, and just ¼ of a milligram can be deadly. With this in mind, most people are not measuring how much of the drug is going into their systems, which is leading to the copious amounts of overdoses each year.
