"Falsehoods almost always beat out the truth on Twitter, penetrating further, faster, and deeper into the social network than accurate information" (Meyer, The Atlantic). Fake news is everywhere. People get paid to create fake news and distribute it out to the world. From the previous quote, it explains how fake news travels much faster than true news. People get more engaged with fake news because it is usually more concerning or interesting than the regular old news that people have heard time and time again. MIT recently conducted a study regarding fake news. They found that fake news reaches 1,500 people six times quicker than true information. As well as that humans are more likely to spread the news rather than the robots that are behind the apps themselves. MIT is still working to solve the problem of fake news and catching it before it gets released to the public from social media platforms. The Atlantic [1 image, 1 link, 1 quotation, 157 words].
