If you so happen to live on the West side of Allen you may have noticed the construction going on. Off of Alma and McDermott the city of Allen has decided to add more lanes on Alma Drive. My friend and I personally think that the people of Allen should of had the chance to say if more lanes were necessary or not. I understand that the use of creating new roads is to reduce the amount of traffic in a growing city, but making new lanes means that the workers are taking away the scenery of the street. For those who don't know, Alma is a street that had a lot of trees down the median and side entrances to neighborhoods. "I understand the necessity of more roads to clear traffic, but it's sad to see what has been destroyed," a friend of mine said who has been living in Allen for 18 years. The city of Allen is taking something so pure and beautiful that makes up the community away from the ones who live in the area. "The people who live in the city should have a say in what is happening and be given a chance to make changes in the community."
