Recently OpenAI developed a system that can read and write its own articles called GPT2. The system was granted access to 8 million news articles online and was later challenged to write it's own article. The GPT2 was able to write "coherent sentences that seem to get the point across," and was able to create fake sources and quotes to support the already made up argument. You can give the system a set of subtext and it will support the argument with fake resources. This seems scary, but workers at OpenAI are working to get the software to use real and relevant facts for support. Eventually, the creators at OpenAI hope to release this technology to the public after testing and improving the GPT2
