Fake News:

Fake News: The Redirect Method

According to oxford dictionary disinformation means “False information which is intended to mislead, especially propaganda issued by a government organization to a rival power or the media”. I believe that not only the news but people like terrorists for example would spread disinformation to take every ones attention away from a much bigger problem that going on. This strategy is called The Redirect Method. You can read more about it and get into depth with who, how, why, and what and more specially ISIS use for it at https://redirectmethod.org/. What is most surprising about this method is the extremes that they are willing to go and how they can actually do that. They can easily make a fake video of a bomb going off and then start messaging, tweeting, sharing, ect. to get the news to focus on that major “bomb” but while all of that is going on, they could be taking control of the government and no one would truly notice until the very end when they realize that the bomb was fake but it will already be to late.
