Front Page News - Arab Revolutions 2011

I, along with many others, remember hearing of a man in Tunisia set himself on fire in protest of the government in December of 2010. This was the beginning of the Arab Revolutions that took place mostly in 2011. The Arab Revolutions are a collective of events in the Middle East that led to the shift in power in many countries. Some events include pro-democracy protests, and civil wars, one of which is still going on to this day. Many newspapers reported on the protests that occurred along with what political figures were saying about them. The Khaleej Times, a publication from the United Arab Emirates, puts a vivid, busy picture of a fight breaking out between protesters and a government supporter. This particular image shows us how angry and violent the protesters are and makes us feel sorry for the person being attacked. The headline, "Protesters reject overtures", almost makes it sound like these 'protesters' don't want to open negotiations or establish a relationship (the literal purpose of an overture) and makes them seem stubborn, ignorant, and unreasonably violent.
