Google's Algorithm - News

As Google News is checked by millions of people each day, it’s important for Google to do their best to show relevant news from trustworthy sources. Just like their search engine, which you probably use on a daily basis, the news that appears on Google News is selected automatically by an algorithm. While Google’s algorithms are extremely complicated, their news algorithm basically “[looks] for indicators of quality, [assesses] a story’s placement based on the...clicks it is attracting, ...the trustworthiness of its publisher, [and] the relevance...and...freshness...of the story”(source). Additionally, Google News is personalized to what you’re most likely to read, so the homepage of your news may not be the same as anyone else’s.
