Increasing tensions at the Southern Border

With the national emergency at the southern border, the trump administration has taken multiple steps to secure our border. Just recently, it has been announced that the pentagon will deploy another 1,000 to the southern border this next week. This has come in a time where thousands of people have formed organized caravans to try to gain entry into the United States. The troops will be offering support to border patrol agents, and they will be laying more barbed wire. A U.S. defense official said that "We’re laying down another 140 miles of concertina wire, about 30 percent done with that,". Altogether, this move is part of the republicans agenda, which aims to stop people from entering our country illegally, and to try to put an end to the drug and sex trafficking.
