Making a choice - 21 February 2019

Rachael Banning-Lover, a journalist for "The Guardian," recently traveled to South America to check out the deforestation issue that is taking place. In her article, she uses subtitles to sort her information making it easier to read, colorful pictures with descriptions, and her personal experience with the natives to appeal to peoples emotions and to hopefully persuade them to help put an end to deforestation.
Banning-Lover goes into detail about the causes of deforestation in South America. "The choice is often between keeping forests standing or removing them for agriculture," she stated. Overall, the choice seems clear to anyone who does not have a lot to eat or a shortage of food, to make room for farming. Her strategies really go into depth with the locals and the issues arising with deforestation, allowing her to grab peoples attention and to play with their emotions.
