Every single newspaper company has their own signature style, focus and purpose to their front page. In this blog I will compare newspapers from Opelika, Alabama and Anchorage, Alaska. These locations are described as simply a small town from a southern state, and the biggest city in far off Alaska. Opelika's newspaper has plenty of stories and tid bits to spread around the paper, but still keeping Valentine's Day central. The second biggest headline, but largest graphics display a point of view, "The holiday of love is 'Black Friday' for local florists"(Enfinger 1). More of their stories remain local, as it is a tiny city that doesn't mind staying close knit. Anchorage has a serious main story, but also presents a multitude of small attention grabbers, many involving politics. Alaska does not have any pro sports teams or near as big a population as a normal state, so they must put more focus into political news because it's more consistent.
