Pope Francis’ Visit to the Middle East

 

On February 3, 2019, Pope Francis made history with being the first pontiff to step foot in the Arabian Peninsula. This shocked many because Ahu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates is a Muslim country , and many people marked 2019 as the “ Year of Tolerance. He was in the UAE for three days, 140,000 people came to his masses which were in Arabic, English, and Latin respectively. As a Catholic , this makes me realize that the world is really becoming more connected , despite the past ,  stigma with Islam , and the middle east, government officials of this country allowed this holy figure head to visit their country , and have mass to their christian population.
