David Farrier, a
journalist from New Zealand, explores dangerous and interesting destinations in
the Netflix Original Series Dark Tourist.
He sticks out like a sore thumb, with his button up shirts and dark rimmed glasses,
as he travels to destinations all over the world that most people wouldn’t want
to visit. His first stop in the series takes him to Latin America, where he goes
to Columbia and visits with Pablo Escobar’s top assassin. During the interview
David casually asks the cringe-worthy question, “Do you regret what you did and
the people you killed?” His fearlessness gives viewers answers to questions
that most wouldn’t dare ask. His journey then takes him to other destinations, such
as an area in Japan where the radiation levels are considered to be dangerous,
and he even comes to the United States to attend a birthday party with vampires
residing in New Orleans. His self-reflection throughout the series is
intriguing and gives the dangerous destinations a softer, inviting side. With that
being said, I still prefer to watch his journey to these locations from the
comfort of my couch. [1 image, 1 quotation, 1 link, 184 words]
