This is fraud: Wakefield aftermath
Andrew Wakefield has been living with a lifetime of punishment from his “fraud” when he and 12 other colleagues published a series that linked the MMR vaccine with autism, causing the public almost to boycott vaccinations on false claims. Andrew Wakefield didn’t get out of this mess he made by just retracting his claims, he didn’t even just get a slap on his hand the consequences will forever linger. In the medical field you take an oath, called hypocrite oath. In short terms meaning that you swear into medicine, your degree and your morals that you practice medicine to only help people never hurt them. Andrew Wakefield cherry picking his data broke the oath he took to become a doctor. He did this by choosing the data to realese to the public that related MMR Vaccine to autism, when in fact only the numbers he chose showed that the numbers left out had too big a devotion to be related to one another. Another flaw that the group of doctors failed to mention in their experiments only contained a sample size of 15 people making the data almost completely irrelevant due to the lack of population used. Being credited doctors they knew this and still went to the public with false claims. in conclusion Andrew Wakefield has lost his license to practice medicine and is now an uncredited doctor. Which makes it hard for him to get any recognition. “Without a license to practice medicine, and the growing evidence to the contrary, it’s going to harder for him to prove that claim,” says New York Times after Wakefield tries to state that he still believes in his original belief about MMR vaccine in linkage with autism.
