TrumpRage
Here we have two very different news sources trying to accomplish the same thing. Both of these articles have a negative connotation on Trump’s 2016 presidential victory, but show it in different ways. On the left we have an article from The New Zealand Herald, and on the right we have an article from The Washington Times. The New Zealand Herald is not an American newspaper so they can better display their distaste of Trump's victory. They show this by using visual rhetorics. They use a large picture and questionable quote to imply that Trump being president is going to hurt America. They altered Obama's famous election poster and added“ Dear America...No you can’t.” to help bury the idea that Trump’s Presidency is a negative thing. The Washington Times on the other hand uses a different form of visual rhetoric to hit a more “sophisticated” group of individuals. The small font along with the clustered look shows that “this news site means business.”This form of front page draws away from the main argument and makes the cover page more messy. “Clutter stresses the mind.”(Elizabeth Scott) therefore in this instance the loaded front page did a disservice to the story by taking away from the bigger picture..
