The Scandalous Life of Empire News

Empire News is satirical news site that has had a pretty rough past. In 2016 Empire News was added to a “fake news watch” by CBS News and were accused of having information that would “mislead its readers.” Empire news does a good job at expressing their political views in a very comical way, but some people don’t consider this a reliable way to receive news, thus creating the controversy. Empire News is a very ironic and humorous  news outlet that uses a variety of rhetorics, such as bold easy to read fonts and clickbaity ads to show they are more for entertainment then actual news. They draw you in with very interesting “buzzing” and controversial new articles that consume the mind. Today they have a disclaimer on their site that reads “Our website and social media content uses only fictional names, except in cases of public figure and celebrity parody or satirization. Any other use of real names is accidental and coincidental.”(D. Van Zandt 9/7/2018). They had to add this disclaimer so people don’t get upset over their satirical type of news. People were not too big of fans of these highly opinionated pieces and now Empire News is put on a fake news watch.
