Why Is Fake News Made?

Millions of people in the world get their news online daily, adults read the news to stay up to date on current events, and kids read the news because it makes them feel smarter and more connect. With the increasing amount of fake news circulating in the media, it has led to increased skepticism as to what is actually true. People wonder how they can know which article is real or why the fake news is made. Well here’s why.
It’s all about money. A study in 2017 found that “Much of the fake news that was generated during the 2017 U.S. election was found to have been created by teenagers in Macedonia” They titled articles with interesting headlines to attract readers who share the crazy headlined stories. The creators of the fake news then get their article viewed millions of time and collect advertisement money from the millions of people who waited 30 seconds to read the article. Fake news is more than a nuisance because not only are they misinforming the public, but also fraudulently claiming advertising money, and those creators of fake news should be prosecuted accordingly.
