Inspired in part by Sharan Daniel's "Integrating Rhetoric and Journalism to Realize Publics" from Rhetoric and Public Affairs, this blog provides a space for students to explore rhetoric in their everyday lives.

After reading the first issue of Kurt Busiek and Alex Ross' Marvels graphic novel, I was very much pleased with my experience especially due to the human nature of the perspective that it focussed on. Rather than focus on the heroes themselves, the whole book was more about how the population as a whole reacted to "marvels" who could do superhuman things through the point of view of a journalist/photographer. The book shares details about the family and personal life of an average joe and commentates on the power of the press and the power of the people when motivating the hero or of creating a realistic story. Even going so far that the main character stopped his wedding because he felt like he "couldn't protect the woman he loves" from the "Marvels".
