Journalists in the wild: Diane Sawyer

Journalists
in the wild: Diane Sawyer By: Selena Peterson

Diane sawyer is a famous news anchor but overall an even more famous journalist. You may know her face from good morning America. Diane is known for exclusive interviews with American political people. In interview with New York Times Diane makes it clear that journalism is her life, that there comes no regrets with that. That is why I decide to make a blog dedicated to Diane and how her persistence steers her career. Not only presistancs but in this case morals, which has gotten her fame to extreme heights. For example when president Nixon was being publicly ridiculed, Diane a supporter from the beginning stayed on his side. When asked about her public statement of still advocating for Nixon and if she was worried about her follower base having a bad backlash to this she simply said “it didn’t even cross my mind.” Diane then went on to say that she had been raised to stick with someone in good times and bad. This had a astounding effect on her career, her supporters grew even bigger, some may not have agreed with who she was supporting but knowing that there was a journalist out there that was able to attach a set of values to their work. That would be Diane’s retorical appeal she makes you want to read her work. When the interview asked Diane an impactful time in her career Diane was quick to share the story when she was in Russia and they would let her in the Russian while House bc she was a woman Diane’s stated “I’m not a woman I am an American journalist.” An iconic statement by an iconic woman.
