Sneaky Hyperbole

Journalists are called everyday to report true stories that may not always be that exciting. One option journalists have upon attempting to create a more entertaining article is the rhetorical strategy of hyperbole. Hyperbole is an “extravagant exaggeration” that is used by many people for all purposes (Vocabulary.com). Sometimes these are used as a form of sarcasm but sometimes these are portrayed as actual accurate descriptions of current events. These stunts are used exponentially more as the level of popularity of the article is higher. Just know whenever you pull up an article that things could be over dramatized or elongated to entice interest.
