Is Facebook Responsible the Most for Spreading Fake News?

In this digital age, we all are dependent to social media. By social media we know that the most popular platform there is Facebook. Facebook, which was started to connect people together has evolved over the years and today, over a billion people use it as a source of entertainment. Facebook has everything, it has stories, memes, trending videos, news etc. Most people on social media are active on Facebook so whatever they see on Facebook they believe. Taking advantage of that there have been multiple sites who has been successful in spreading fake news. Those scam sites post those contents which attracts the attention of the viewers and those posts go viral. Those post are shared by many groups too believing it to be as an authentic source and therefore, fake news spread drastically. Facebook has been trying constantly to stop the spreading of fake news and they are taking appropriate actions too to atleast minimize it. They have recently introduced a new metric called Click-Gap. Facebook said, "Click-Gap will limit the spread of websites on Facebook that are disproportionately popular on Facebook compared with the rest of the web." Guy Rosen, VP of Integrity at Facebook said, "When people in a group repeatedly share content that has been rated false by independent fact checkers, we will reduce the group's overall News Feed distribution." This is a great step to punish those groups too through which fake news spread so fast. Overall, I believe that a chance should be given to Facebook again and just wait to watch how they stop the spreading of fake news through social media. [1 image, 2 links, 2 quotations, 278 words]
