Relevant Films
After watching a few films similar to "All the President's Men," I come to the conclusion that the press and news association play a major role in politics and how the general public perceives individuals. Basically, if someone were to have total control over the media and how the news was fed to the public then, the general opinion of a topic or person could be swayed. Seen in the movie, President Nixon was caught in a scandal called Watergate scandal in which hundreds of hours of secret tapes of Nixon were leaked and caused a bad perception of the former president to form. There were many sensitive sentences spoken like "Going after all these Jews. Just find one that is a Jew, will you” and hundreds more. The key player and getting this news out and causing President Nixon to voluntarily step down from the job was the press.
