Social Media and News Work Together.
Social media is defined as “a collective term for different digital platforms allowing people to communicate with each other.” and News is defined as “something that has happened or is still happening that is being told by the media which was previously unknown.” With that being said, news outlets use social media platforms to reach a wider audience. Many have their own twitter accounts and post off of there since its an easy way for everyday social media users to keep in touch with the news. I decided to investigate CNN. CNN is a Cable News Network on cable television that goes on 24 hours a day, all week long. The rhetorical choices that they use are ethos, pathos, and logos as a way to persuade their audience. Ethos is an appeal to ethics, pathos is an appeal to emotion, and logos is an appeal to logic. Using these devices, CNN can connect and relate to most people with those elements. THey deliver news through social media, their website, their app. They are overall a very well known news outlet that most people learn about at a young age and tend to remember as they get older.
