The Sadness in Pictures
I've always liked to look at MSN's "The Week in Pictures". The journalists that submit these pictures capture images that immediately grab your interest and you want to know the story behind the photo. This journalist captions the image: "Central American migrants turn themselves in to U.S. Border Patrol as they seek asylum after illegally crossing the Rio Grande near Penitas, Texas, on April 6" (Elliot). The journalists strategy is to produce an interest by tapping into the reader's emotions. When you look at these images, you can't help but stare into the faces of these women and feel for them. So many of the photos that can be seen are from all different areas of the world and yet so many depict some sort of pain in the faces of those photographed.
