Twitter vs Snapchat

Many news apps today provide news in many different ways. Some examples of news apps include Twitter and Snapchat. These apps have other purposes as well but they also share news. The following are pictures that outline the ways that these apps portray their news.

Based on the two pictures above, Twitter uses the strategy of eye appeal. It grabs the readers attention by showcasing big headlines in order to get the reader to click on those specific titles. However with Snapchat, it gives the reader the options of each news outlet so that the reader has the ability to pick which reliable news source they want, compared to showcasing a bunch of titles from specific articles. A reporter from The New York Times Magazine comments on the love of snapchat that "most things that needed saying could be done so in an economical 160 words or fewer" (Wortham). Therefore, Snapchat continues to provide very simple options in order to allow the reader to pick what they want. New York Times Magazine [2 images, 1 link, 1 quotation, 174 words]
