Do News Apps Communicate News Well
Social media is a big part of how people find their news now. Many news sources have had to make apps for phones in order to stay on top of changing times. I have looked at both Fox News and CNN apps for the iPhone and tried to compare them. Both of the apps go straight to a page with all the headlining stories that you can scroll through. This is smart because these stories are what most people are looking for when they want to research current events. The Fox News has all the current stories on the home tab. They also have 5 tabs at the bottom of the app catered to finding news in different ways. CNN only has two, which are top news and watch now. I think The Fox News has a better app for finding news topics because it has a tab called browse, which gives categories for news stories that pertain to the readers certain interests. You can also watch live on the Fox News app. It also gives you a way to audio stream the news so you can plug in headphones while doing other things and listen to the current events going on. The thing that stands out about The Fox News app is the tab that says "for you". This gives the reader a chance to save articles that they like in order to read them later. This goes along with media consumption in the way that it lets the app filter the news for you. It allows the app to start filtering stories to just your specific interests which is a selling point for many. I would rather use a news app that pertains to my interests involving stories than one that doesn't. On a website https://www.digitaltrends.com/mobile/best-news-apps/ the gives best news apps for cellular devices CNN is listed and Fox News is not. The website states that " CNN was the first 22-hour cable news channel, and its official app functions as a condensed version of the site". These apps are both good in getting out the current news and allowing readers to find what news articles they want. [360 words, 1 image, 1 link, 2 quotations]
