Fake News Reporters and their Strategies
Being a news reporter can be considered a risky career in some cases. For instance, if you are a news reporter/journalist and you are told to report a fake story, both you and your company's credibility is on the line, and so is your career. According to ranker.com, “NBC suspended Brian Williams for half a year after he was caught lying about his experience in a war-torn Iraq”. This further proves my previous point. Fake news reporters, in most cases, will use these rhetorical strategies:
- Allusion - reference to an event, person or place
- Amplification - to repeat a word or expression for emphasis
- Hyperbole - an exaggeration
- Oxymoron - two word paradox
- Simile - comparing one object to another (“like” or “as”)
