On March 15, 2018, students from multiple different schools started to walk out to protest against gun violence. Many newspapers reported on the nationwide protest including
Edmonton Metro in Canada, as well as
Inland Valley Daily Bulletin in California. Both newspapers top topic was the gun violence issue and pictures of students. However, the newspapers showcase the issue differently.
Edmonton Metro showcases the gun violence issue by blowing it up on the full front page along with some advertisements. There is very little white space on the page because it is completely covered by the one topic. On the other hand
Inland Valley Daily Bulletin displays this issue along with another topics from that particular day.
Inland Valley Daily Bulletin chose to give the readers a preview of everything that they would read about later in the paper, whereas
Edmonton Metro only showed the most trending world issue on that particular day, "Enough is Enough" (Newseum).
