There is a local DFW investigative journalist by the name of Ginger Allen, who has recently written an article about a stove exploding after being lit and causing a large fire. The story is that there was no odor present when
"Federal law requires an odorant, a smell similar to a rotten egg, to be injected into gas before it ever reaches your house." Allen utilizes pathos to convey this story in that she adds the quotation, “Seeing your best friend covered in flames. And they were a couple of inches tall, all over his body,” in order to tug at the heartstrings and get the reader to empathize and keep reading. She also goes on to repeat multiple times that this burn survivor has decided to share his story after 19 months of the incident occurring as well as showing before and after photos of the victim.
