Comparing News Apps to Social Media Apps

If you compare news articles on apps such as Fox or CNN to the news reports given on twitter
you will notice a very dramatic difference in formatting. While the news apps have a much more
sophisticated layout and tone of voice, social media apps such as Twitter either provide links to
new websites or have many opinions of common users on the news page. On Fox and CNN you
will get a small amount of opinion bias depending on the article, but on Twitter you can view
journalists opinions and common peoples opinions. Social media apps also provide a larger
range of news genres. For example, trending on Twitter right now, “John Wayne’s 1971 Playboy
interview draws heat” along with “Bernie Sanders announces his 2020 presidential run.” News
apps have the ability to go in depth on a topic, so these apps would be better for getting the
information in the problem and social media apps would be better for looking at people’s opinions.
