The Washington Post released an article today regarding “Fake
News and How it Effects Businesses”. As we are in the midst of an era filled
with misleading information and attempts to push propaganda dripped in sparkles
called “fake news”, we find that misinforming the masses has become the norm.
However, no one ever seems to wonder how “Fake News” effects our businesses. Several
stories are circulating regarding health, politics, and even religion. Mislead
information has the power to persuade someone into boycotting or supporting a
propaganda movement. Donald trump even said “"It's just fake. It's fake.
It's made-up stuff. It's disgraceful what happens, but that happens in the—that
happens in the world of politics.” But what about the world of struggling businesses?
All it takes is a bad review or even a boycott to cause business revenue to
decrease. This is why its important to watch what resources we allow to shift
our viewpoint. Not only are we feeding into the propaganda but also effecting
someone’s livelihood. From my researching, there are a few things I have come to realize in regards to fake news and those who release the information. First, several bloggers and/or journalist have a Spiteful persona when it comes to insulting businesses and making up false stories for a views of their website. Secondly, majority of those releasing fake news suffer from mental illness. https://www.washingtonpost.com/outlook/fake-news-threatens-our-businesses-not-just-our-politics/2019/02/08/f669b62c-2b1f-11e9-984d-9b8fba003e81_story.html?utm_term=.930f9961f2e0
