With the rise in everyday use of technology, our time is consumed through phones, iPads and laptops. Technology also has an effect on where people go to get their information. Twitter and Instagram play a huge role in where people's lives are showcased.Instagram presents their content is through big pictures with captions that are 1/10th of the picture size. Instagram puts a greater emphasis on pictures their users post. Twitter on the other hand, showcases tweets and majority of what people are saying, not pictures. The recent debate with Instagram has been the issue of the app deleting followers that are inactive. James Charles, a makeup YouTube guru, lost a total of 500,000 followers last week. https://www.wetheunicorns.com/youtubers/james-charles/loses-2-million-instagram-followers/ states, “Initially users assumed that Instagram had gone on a bot hunt, sweeping away fake accounts in order to bring everyone's follower count back in line with reality. But it seems that, even if that was the original intention, things may have got a bit out of hand over at ol' Instagram HQ.” So far, there have been no scandals on Twitter regarding a loss of followers which makes me think, why is Instagram doing this? Are they trying to get rid of users or divert them to another site?
