Is Water Safe to Drink in Allen, Texas?

In the recent weeks, residents of Allen, Texas have been noticing "something different when turning on their tap water each spring" (Allen Image Magazine March Issue Pg. 6). They have been noticing an increasing smell of chlorine when they turn on their faucets. North Texas Municipal Water District began investigating the issue.

About a century ago, the CDC found that many children were dying from diseases in the water that were formulating from bacteria that was able to grow in the water pipes. Then an individual named John Leal discovered that if you were to add very small amounts of chlorine into the water supply, that the amount of bacteria growing would significantly decrease, therefore leading to less cases of human deaths. However, many people have become increasing more concerned with the amount of chlorine in our drinking water.

After consulting our water district and conducting many tests on the water, it was found that chlorine levels were well below the mandated limit. The North Texas Municipal Water District is working to make the water safer to drink every day, while still keeping it free of harmful chemicals.
