Twitter is a widely used social media network, which also happens to be a fairly popular news source people check fairly often. In fact, Twitter seems to be geared towards news, or at least showing people “what’s happening in the world and what people are talking about right now” in about 300 characters(Twitter’s About Page). Twitter appears to be used primarily as a link distribution site for news publishers. The main emphasis seems to be on the images, which take up by far the most space than any other medium. Aside from the image, some tweets simply have a description, while some have a bolded title and an even shorter description of the news article. This news distribution platform also has the advantage of being social, and allows for users to comment, retweet, and/or like specific articles.
