Why do we eat when we aren't hungry?

In this article on Psychology Today, it speaks about the non-habit and habit groups formed as an experiment to test why we eat when we are not hungry. The article also includes a large amount of logos including statistics, studies, scientific arguments, etc. The experiment itself focuses on a specific region of the brain called the ventromedial cortex which contains "A major function of this region is to anticipate the value of an expected event", in this case, the event is eating with no appetite. Though the jargon can become confusing, it states that the simple appearance or thought of food "attracts" the human mind to eat it regardless of need. The effective use of logos is the overall rhetorical strategy utilized to convey the information.
