CNN vs. The New York Times

Image result for the new york times and CNN images
Recently I was tasked with writing a paper analyzing the different ways two different news sources cover the same story. The two different news sources I analyzed were CNN and The New York Times. What I found is that CNN’s articles were focused more on logic and emotion; CNN’s articles were packed full with information and included multiple pictures. On the other hand, The New York Times’s articles lacked information and was focused more on emotion. In The New York Times article “College Student Samantha Josephson Found Dead After She Got Into a Car She Mistook for Her Uber, Police Say.” The article included more emotional comments on Samantha’s death instead of information surrounding her death like the CNN article includes. There is one quote from The New York Times article that sums up what they were going for. It was a statement made by Harris Pastides, the president of the college samantha attended, that states, “Times like these leave me searching for words of wisdom and comfort” this is is a very emotional quote which was the main focus of this article(Zaveri). Ultimately, what I found when analyzing these two news sources was that CNN’s article was more packed full of information while The New York Times article focused more on emotion.
