Google News vs Apple News

In this 21st century, watching news on television is no longer a thing as cable is starting to become less popular. So how do people catching up with their news? The answer is smartphones. While I know there are two dominant operation systems in the smartphone business, today we’ll be specifically looking into the iPhone. iPhone comes with their own personal Apple News app, but people would also install Google News on their phones. Both apps has their own pros and cons according to this article by Business Insider.

First off their widgets, Google News tends to push up any article relating to your search engine’s history while Apple News is focusing more on the headlines by major news outlets. Going inside the apps, “compared with Google News, the Apple News app has a much busier look and feel” as Google News has tabs that differentiate your personalized stuff and the headlines while Apple News cramp everything together with a long scroll. “But from a content standpoint, both app widgets left a little to be desired.” Google News relays too much on algorithms so some articles might be fishy, while Apple News actually hires real people to choose their news source, but thanks to this, they have ads and some articles require subscription. Either way, both are convenient in their own ways so it depends on the users’ preference.
